During the General Election in the U.K. recently the media were claiming that the British Parliament was “the mother of all parliaments”, which is… a false claim!!!
I don’t know how many of the rest of the worlds’ governments would agree with the arrogance of the UK. Whatever their governments’ form, and regardless how long they have been in existence, probably very few follow the UK’s example, if at all.
Why would they? The UK system is hardly deemed relevant, or fair, even by the Brits!
The claim goes back to The Magna Carta of 1215 (15th June apparently).
Iceland’s parliament predates this by around 300 years, around 960 AD, and has been around for 1,050 + years!!!
No system is perfect, but Iceland’s parliamentary procedures are far more efficient and fair!!!
Hey, Iceland beats England, again!!!
